the significance of a boat

I stayed at a charming B&B up in Canada, and there was a Canadian couple from the group staying there as well. Chit chatting at breakfast one morning, they shared with me about their trip to Cuba (there are no travel restrictions on Canadians wishing to travel to Cuba) and how nice things were there. The education, the health care, the happy people, the bustling markets.

I agreed with them that things were not all bad there. But I shared with them about a boat with 8 men and one woman that we gave assistance to in the Gulf of Mexico. They had been drifting for 22 days after their motor failed, and had been quite some time without food or water.

How bad would things have to be for you to get in a boat and set sail for the open seas?

  2. Megs, the next time I encounter a group of Canadian refugees in a boat, or Kiwi's or those antipodes from Oz, I'll be sure to give them equal blog space.

    Cheers
