Just now I'm in a hotel lobby in Wilhelmshaven, having a coffee and typing out a few emails. The ship, the Matterhorn Spirit, arrives in a few hours, with me joining at arrival. The current first engineer will remain aboard for a few days, for the transit to Fredericia, Denmark, which will give me a bit of training and a thorough handover.
My 3 days in the office were good. The staff there is very professional and gave us great hospitality. Things look good, and I am expecting to enjoy working on these ships, and for this company.
The plan is to do one 4 month tour on this crude carrier, and then after my vacation time, I will join one of the steam plant LNG's, and find my long term home there.
