Leonard Cohen Hallelujah

I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though
It all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah

  1. I rather like Jeff Buckley's version. Are you familiar with his music? I guess he hung aroud and played in sang in New York for a while before he died in 97. I've never actually listened to anything by him except this one song, but I like it, and I intend to buy one of his cd's someday.

Leonard sang the one you posted in a bit higher key than the version I'd heard before. I really like Leonard's music--a lot of it kind of matches up with my ... depressive negative personality, and I love the timbre of his voice.

  2. I stumbled across Jeff Buckley's cover, and find it just so so. I saw Leonard Cohen: I'm your Man last June, and really liked Rufus Wainwrights take on this song.

I discovered Leonard from watching Pump up the Volume, bought The Essential Leonard Cohen, and it's been in regular rotation on my MP3 playlist ever since.
