Bute and Pender

I'm sitting at a Wave's Coffee shop and having my second cup of the day.  My 6th day in Vancouver, and my 4th day in which I've deployed my umbrella.  I can see down Bute street to Coal Harbour right now, with low hanging clouds obscuring the tops of the mountains, pretty much the same view from the condo I'm staying in.

The reason that I'm drinking coffee in Vancouver instead of NYC is that my employer has begun the process of upgrading the maintenance and purchasing software for their fleet of ships and I've been asked to be a representative of the seagoing staff and test the software before we go live.

While here, I'm systematically investigating the restaurant scene in Vancouver, meeting up with left coast friends, drinking BC wines, listening to jazz, and testing out what working in an office rather than onboard ship is like.
