the aftermath

Kudos to Di Paola Turkeys, Inc. for raising the most amazing turkey I've ever tasted. The meal was a great success; much pleasure was experienced by all. I followed the roasting instructions from the Gothamist "cooking in the city" section fairly closely, and the bird came out moist. Now, I don't know how much is due to the roasting technique, and how much is due to the quality of the turkey, but nevermind, it was a great turkey.

When I cooked at my sister's two weeks ago, there was an insufficient amount of fat in the roasting pan to make a sufficient amount of gravy; last night there was an abundance of fat in the drippings, so that I was able to make plenty of gravy, as well as spooning a bunch of drippings on the separately cooked stuffing, which made it taste mighty fine. That makes for a yummy meal.

Ellie picked up a bottle of Laurel Lake 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon, which was exceptional. Molly's sweet potato casserole was delicious. Amanda's pumpkin pie was scarfed down with enthusiasm. And of course, Joe's Fudge Brownies, just like the Pilgrims made at the first Thanksgiving.
